Traders with Color Metals Protest New Rules

July 21, 2008

Today, individual entrepreneurs gathered in front of the Color Metal Factory and protested the new law on warehousing and reserving of the goods as was just adopted by the Georgian parliament.

Gogi Jokhadze, an individual entrepreneur, reported to the Medianews that the law envisages storage of the goods for one month without any reaction that will seriously damage the entrepreneurs.

The demonstrators blamed the government for terrorism and stated that Isani-Samgori police officers oppress them without any warning and search warrant.

Giorgi Chokhadze added they have sent open appeals to the Trade Unions and President, however, no reply has been yet received. Thus, they do not exclude the possibility that in future they will organize large-scaled demonstrations.
