A protest rally is taking place at the building of the Gori District Police Station with a demand to release Zaal Gudadze, a member of the Gori HQ of the Alliance for Georgia and Tamaz Tlashadze, an active supporter of the alliance who were detained on June 15 in Gori..

At 14 p.m. the demonstrators started at the garden of the Giorgi Eristavi Gori Theatre and they marched to the building of the Gori District Police Station. They demanded for the detainees to be released, however no officials reacted to their request. All the doors of the Police Station were locked immediately and the participants of the protest rallies were not allowed to enter the building.

Yesterday on June 16, at 10 p.m. Tamaz Tlashadze was given a 2-month custody sentence. As for Zaal Gudadze, he has not been sentenced yet.

The representatives of the Alliance for Georgia and other opposition parties, as well as the representatives of NGOs and members of the Public Defender Office along with friends of the detainees joined the protest rally.

Nino Dalakishvili, a representative of  the Office of the Public Defender managed to meet Zaal Gudadze. According to her, the detainee has injuries over his body which must have been inflicted on him during his detention. The participants of the protest rally demanded a meeting with corresponding responsible officials to specify this information, however their request has not been fulfilled yet.
