Five Young People Joined on Hunger Strike at the office of the EU Special Representative

June 24, 2009

Five more people joined the members of the hunger strike movement “Defend Georgia” at the Office of the EU Special Representative. Shota Apkhaidze, a spokesperson of the movement said at a press conference today, that they continue being on a hunger strike as long as no doctor is allowed to visit the detainees. “Today, the Ministry of Internal Affairs contacted the EU, and promised to allow doctors to examine the detainees. However the young members of the movement will not cease the hunger strike until the detainees will have received medical treatment,” Apkhaidze said.
It should be pointed out that it is has been three days since seven young people have started out their hunger strike at the office of the EU Special Representative.
