Impoverished Old People Left Poor Dinner in the Office of the Official at the District Administration

July 8, 2009

Short time ago, an incident happened in the building of the Dedoplistskaro district administration. Several impoverished people, who usually have dinner at the free canteen, brought the dinner they are served in the canteen, to the office of Levan Jamalashvili, head of the Social Aid Department at the District Administration.

The old people say the food is getting worse every day. Besides that, the head of the canteens reduce their everyday ration; employees of the canteens take the rest of the food home to feed their pigs.

The old people say the funding of free canteens from the local budget was not reduced; however, the district administration does not serve food for them on Saturdays.

Levan Jamalashvili denies the accusations of the old people. He also denies that the officials of the district administration had threatened the old people with expelling them from the canteen if they complain about food.
