Arab “Rakiin” Is Not Owner of “TV-Imedi”

February 5, 2010

Arab English-language newspaper “National” reported that Arab Company “Rakiin” is not owner of the TV-Company “Imedi”. The article states that purchase of the TV-Imedi by “Rakiin” shall be thoroughly investigated.

Executive director of the investment company denied in his interview with the newspaper that “Rakiin” has purchased the TV Company “Imedi. “Why should I have purchased a TV-station in Georgia? It is a small country and why should I need a TV-station there?” said executive director of the investment company Hater Messed.

According to him, RAK Georgia Holding, which is declared to be the owner of the TV Company “Imedi”, is a Georgian company in fact and it has nothing to do with the Arab investment company “Rakiin”.

“There is somebody in Georgia who established his own company “RAK Georgia Holding. This company really exists but it has no connection with us. The problem is that I have not registered the name “RAK” as a brand on time,” said Messed.
