Contest for Human Rights Photo Reporters

Contest for Human Rights Photo Reporters

The Human Rights Centre (HRIDC) is opening a competition for Photo Reporters on the topic of Human Rights.

The competition is supported by the Embassies of Switzerland and the Netherlands and by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and Cross Caucasus Journalism Network of the Institute for War and Peace Reporting.

The aim of the contest is to reveal best photos on human rights. The deadline for the competition is 3 December 2007.

There are three categories:
1. photo story (3-10 photos)
2. poster
3. human rights photo shot

The competition is open to photo reporters from Georgia. The centre especially welcomes entries from Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region.
Only digital images will be accepted. The images should be accompanied by a by a piece of writing, of no more than 150 words, describing the situation your photo depicts, its background and which human right it illustrates. This text can be submitted in either English, Georgian or Russian.

The winners of each category will be awarded a certificate, 300 Euros and a special prize from OSCE. The awarding ceremony will take place on 10 December 2007, International Day of Human Rights.
