Aleksandre Khegaturi: “The Memorandum regarding which I was called a Traitor Is Blocked by Abkhazians”

May 19, 2011
Abkhazians deranged the signing of memorandum between Russia and Georgia on the management of EngurHess. The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Aleksandre Khetaguri stated the corresponding and added that this decision did not fit financial interests of Abkhazians.

According to the Minister, Abkhazians are receiving 400 million kilo watt hours for free and if the memorandum is signed they will not be able to do so.

“The Memorandum regarding which I was called a traitor is blocked by Abkhazians,” – stated Khetaguri. According to him, Georgia will profit either way; if the memorandum is not signed the status-quo will remain at EngurHess, if it is signed, EngurHess and state budget will receive 24 million additional GEL annually and this will be a guarantee that the Russians and Abkhazians are not involved in the management of EngurHess and it is under Georgia’s control.

Aleksandre Khetaguri singlehandedly denies the possibility of involvement of Abkhazians in the management of EngurHess and VardnilHess and states that “neither they have a desire for it.”
