Leaders and Supporters of the Public Assembly In Front of Parliament

May 25, 2011
The leaders of the Public Assembly occupied the stage prepared for the tomorrow’s military parade.

PA Leader Nino Burjanadze made first statement from the stage. She said they have full right to hold protest demonstration wherever they want. Burjanadze said they had requested permission to hold demonstration in front of the parliament building in their petition to the Tbilisi City Hall. When asked, if they were going to move to the Liberty Square, Burjanadze said it depends on the people.

“We requested permission to hold demonstration in front of the parliament building in our petition to the City Hall. So, we are here and do not breach the law. As for the question, whether we will stay here or not, we are thinking over it and make final decision together with our people,” Burjanadze said.

At the same time, PA activists set up iron barriers near the Parliament building in Rustaveli Avenue, Chitadze Street and Kashueti Church. Afterwards, they started the demonstration in the surrounded area.

An activist from Batumi Murman Dumbadze said with the unity of the Georgian population, the wish of the Public Assembly to change the government will be realized and the current government will not be able to resist the general will of the population. Murman Dumbadze finished his speech with the slogan: “Misha Will Go!”
