Patrol Police Bans Peasants to Sell Peaches Alongside the Motorway

June 22, 2011

Patrol police banned the peasants from Gurjaani district to sell peaches alongside the central motorway. Peasants from Chumlaki village informed the Information Center of Kakheti that law enforcement officers threatened them with fines and confiscation of the fruit.

“Last evening, we were selling peaches in front of our own yards. The patrol police officers ordered to leave the area and warned against selling the fruit next time; they threatened with fines (starting from 100 GEL),” complained residents of Chumlaki village.

Representatives of the Kakheti office of the Patrol Police Department clarified that selling peach alongside the motorway is street trading and it contradicts the law. “Besides, the peasants hinder traffic movement and consequently we banned them to continue trading,” said the police officers.
