Garsevan Gogochuri Killed in Natural Disaster

24.05.2012
Body of Garsevan Gogochuri, 24, from Vedzatkhevi village, Dusheti district, was found on the embankment of the Arkali River. The relatives were looking for him since May 21.

“He was in the neighboring village; on his way home he had to cross the bridge over the river; the flooded water took him away. We were looking for his body all day long in vain,” Tamar Inashvili from Vedzatkhevi told the Information Center of Mtskheta-Mtianeti.

After 24-hour unsuccessful searches, the family members and neighbors applied to the emergency brigade. The body is in Tbilisi mortuary now.

Vedzatkhevi village is located 12 kilometers away from Dusheti. 11 impoverished families live in the village surrounded by landslides. According to the conclusions of geologists it is dangerous to live in the village.

Last year, Vedzatkhevi village was isolated during nine months after the only road was destroyed by landslide. The locals could leave the village only via footpath.
