Police Questioned Participants of Kutaisi Incident

December 24, 2012

Law enforcement bodies started investigation into the incident that occurred on December 19 when president visited Kutaisi. Police already questioned several participants of the demonstration.

Kutaisi majoritarian MP from majority Gubaz Sanikidze held a press-conference on the incident on December 20; he categorically denied allegation as if the incident was provoked by the Georgian Dream.

However, members of the National Movement claim the noisy protest of the demonstrators was provoked by the Georgian Dream and Zaza Metaplishvili, head of Sanikidze’s pre-election HQ was supervising this incident.

Sanikidze said: “Metaplishvili has not been to Kutaisi for a long time; as for Kakhi Dvalishvili, whose name was also mentioned in this context, was assisting Giorgi Tevdoradze to reach the car and leave the territory peacefully during the incident.”

“Members of the National Movement shall not have chance to take advantage of the situation. Law enforcement bodies shall investigate everything and provide the society with true information. I am ready to cooperate with the investigation. All doubts and accusations shall be declined,” said Gubaz Sanikidze.
