Gurjaani District Governor Fired Village Attorneys

March 14, 2014

Mikheil Mamalashvili, Kakheti

Gurjaani district governor Emzar Jikurashvili fired attorneys of Zemo Kachreti, Chalaubani and Chumlaki villages. Zemo Kachreti village attorney Elza Japoshvili said the district governor had asked her to file resignation application.

“On March 6, district governor called me and said I had to occupy position of specialist. They did not explain the reason. You should ask the governor. Valdislav Getiashvili replaced me,” Elza Japoshvili said.

Chalaubani village attorney Valeri Barnabishvili and Chumlaki village attorney Abo Kasrelishvili have cell phones unavailable.

Gurjaani district governor said the attorneys had voluntarily filed resignation applications: “Attorneys of Chalaubani and Chumlaki villages resigned based on their own applications. Criminal case was launched against former attorney of Zemo Kachreti village; so Elza Japoshvili was only interim attorney. We offered her to continue working as specialist. We selected new attorneys in all three villages according to their experience and reputation,” Emzar Jikurashvili said.
