Prisoners Request Revision of Their Cases

September 23, 2014

Human Rights Center received a letter from two inmates of the Rustavi penitentiary establishment #17 Teimuraz Chichua and Avtandil Khachaturov.

The convicts wrote, they became victims of the problems created in the prisons during previous government. They claim they are innocent and hoped the new government would have reviewed their cases. The prisoners write that the state refused to review their cases.

Teimuraz Chichua and Avtandil Khachaturov blame the government in giving fake promises and refuse to use the prison shop during their imprisonment term.

“We are not going to start hunger-strike. We decline the service provided by the state and declare mistrust to them; we request to withdraw our cases from archives and start new investigation into them. We would like to declare that if our cases are fairly reviewed, we will not request material or moral compensation. Our main purpose is restoration of justice,” the letter reads.
