Imereti region has a new governor

The former Governor of Imereti region Zaza Meparishvili resigned. Former governor of Vake-Saburtalo district in Tbilisi Givi Tchitchinadze will be interim governor. Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili presented Tchitchinadze to the position and wished him success. 

"I am ready to serve my country, in particular, to serve Imereti region. It is quite large region. So there is much work here and I am ready to start,” new governor of Imereti region Givi Tchitchinadze said. 

As for the previous governor Zaza Meparishvili, whose resignation was announced several times during last few months, on February 22, he quitted the job based on his resignation letter. He occupied the position since December of 2013. Before, he was head of the western regional service at the State Security Agency. 
“I petitioned to the Prime Minister about resignation several times during past six months. I am going to return to my professional activities. I wish success to the new governor and the region,” Meparishvili said. 

The new governor of Imereti region Givi Tchitchinadze will start office from February 24.
