Human Rights Center implements the project – “Preserving Heritage of Religious Minorities”. In December, the monitoring group of the Center started field visits in the regions of Georgia to study the state of the worship places of religious minorities.
The project aims to raise public awareness about the state of places of worship of religious minorities in Georgia. In December 2015 Human Rights Center will pay field visits to Racha, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Imereti and Adjara and assess the conditions of Synagogues, Catholic Churches and Muslim Mosques there. The project also plans to evaluate conditions of Armenian churches in Tbilisi.
Representatives of Human Rights Center will photo and video document conditions of the worship places in the regions and in Tbilisi. Journalist of Human Rights Center will prepare articles, which will be published on the organization’s online newspaper –
www.humarights.ge . Specialist of Cultural Heritage will prepare reports and recommendations about the state of worship places.
In the second phase of the project, Human Rights Center will start advocacy of the revealed problems with relevant bodies and request rehabilitation of worship places. Within the framework of the project, a media tour will be held to the sites of Muslim mosques in the region Samtskhe-Javakheti, where journalists from various media outlets will participate.
At the end of the project, a photo exhibition, screening of the documentary movie and presentation of the report will be organized.
