On July 19, in Ergneti, case of Giunashvili was one of the main issues discussed during the meeting in the frame of Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) the, who was arrested on June 8. Tskhinvali district de-facto court convicted Giunashvili for crossing of so called illegal “border” and sentenced him to two months of imprisonment.

According to the information of the Tskhinvali de-facto security forces, Giunashvili was suspected in the explosion of handmade shell and the same security forces claimed that on August 11, 2008 Giunashvili killed Ossetian soldiers, who were on duty near the village.

“Giunashvili is in pre-trial detention setting. He is imposed of two months of imprisonment. One accusation was verified – illegal crossing of the state border. He is also accused in intentional murder of the citizen. Right now the investigation is going on”, - declared David Sanakoev, the representative of Tskhinvali de-facto government.

Davit Kobakhidze, the deputy head of the Information and Analytical Centre at the Georgian State Security Service, does not agree with the accusation against Giunashvili and states that Giunashvili is illegal prisoner of the Occupation Regime.

“In the beginning Giunashvili was arrested for crossing the so called “border”. However, later, the      de-facto Prosecutor’s Office started investigation for grave injury of concrete person. This accusation is an absurd”, - declared Kobakhidze.

At the meeting, Georgian side objected illegal demarcation of so called “border”.
