A Policeman Alleged in Beating the Detainee

Tbilisi Prosecution Office has launched a penal case against Roland Minadze, a police officer of the Gldani – Nazaladevi police department.


Tbilisi Vake–Saburtalo regional court sentenced Rolan Minadze to three months pre-detention for the abuse of his working position.   The charges claim he beat detainee Khvicha Kvirikashvili. Khvicha Kvirikashvili, who was physically abused by the above mentioned police officer, had been arrested a month ago for robbery. According to investigation results Kvirikashvili was severely injured and then taken home instead of hospital. The victim died an hour after returning home. The police officer, Ronald Minadze, was detained two days ago.
