43 Prisoners Released from Prison

Tbilisi. 26.08.04. Media News. President Mikheil Saakashvili has granted pardon to 58 convicts, it was reported, with43 prisoners having been released from prisons throughout the country today. Four of them are women. The terms of imprisonment have been reduced by half (for 15 convicts, among them one woman).

The Pardon Commission has discussed 700 applications of  prisoners during a one month period with only 43 being granted pardon.
