Sandro Girgvliani’s Mother Brought Suit to the European Court

July 12, 2007

Appeal regarding the murder of Sandro Girgvliani, late employee for the United Georgian Bank, was registered at the European Human Rights Court. Irina Enukidze, mother of the murdered young man, sent the appeal to the Strasbourg Court.

Shalva Shavgulidze, one of family lawyers, said in his conversation with Medianews that the appeal with the name-“Enukidze against Georgia”-was already granted with registration number. The appeal states that several articles from the European Convention on Human Rights were violated regarding Irina Enukidze. Those articles are the following: Article 2 - right to life; Article 3 - prohibition of torture; Article 6 – right to just court and Article 13 – effectiveness of the protection of human rights. Irina Enukidze demands the European Court to acknowledge the violation of these articles.
