Chief Prosecutor of Georgia Archil Kbilashvili made statement about resignation. He said there is no controversy between him and the future Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili but decided to quit the position.

Archil Kbilashvili clarified why he decided to quit position. He said, after the Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili decided to quit politics, he often talked with him about his possible moving to the civil sector too “to support public figure Bidzina Ivanishvili,” Kbilashvili said.

He said Ivanishvili’s decision to leave politics is honorable decision.

“His resignation proves that his struggle served moral ideal instead getting hold of power,” Kbilashvili said.

He added that Ivanishvili thought Kbilashvili had decided to quit politics earlier but Kbilashvili believes it is early for him to work in public institution.

According to Kbilashvili, he will stay on the position before the new Prime Minister comes to office; afterwards he will select the new chief prosecutor.

Kbilashvili said he is not going to work in any state institution and intends to continue activities in the civil sector together with Bidzina Ivanishvili.
