23-year-old Turpal Borhasvhili - the 12th killed from Pankisi in Syria Information Center of Kakheti

Another citizen of Georgia, 23-year-old Turpal Borchashvili from Pankisi gorge, who lived in village Dzibakhevi, died during hostilities in city of Kobani, Syria. Turpal Borchashvili was fighting on the side of so-called Islamic State. Six months ago, he went from Georgia to Turkey and then moved to Syria. Family members of Turpal Borchashvili confirmed his death to Information Center of Kakheti. 

Reportedly, extremists of Islamic State attacked the military units at Turkish-Syrian border, in town of Kobani. During the fight, airstrikes took place against them, which caused casualty. According to the Islamic news agencies, as a result of fight, Islamic State took control over Kobani.

We remind you that in February 2015, American General James Terry, commander of coalition efforts against ISIS said that Kurdish military units with the support of US air force had expelled ISIS fighters from Northern city of Syria, Kobani. The extremists have controlled the city since summer 2014. 

23-year-old Turpal Borchashvili is the 12th victim who went to fight in Syria from Pankisi Gorge.  

In May 2015, there was information that 33-year-old Ibrahim Tsitashvili from village Tsinubani of Pankisi Gorge died in Syria. He went to Syria 3 months earlier before his death. He has a wife and 3 small children in Pankisi Gorge. 

Information about death of 24-year-old Davit Sviakauri was spread on February 23 2015. 

 In December 2014, death of 18-year-old Israpil Tsatiashvili from village Birkiani, Pankisi Gorge, was reported. 

Israpil Tsatiashvili is a brother of 21-year-old Jabrail Tsatiashvili who died in Syria few days earlier than his brother. 

Information about death of 22-year-old Guram Gumashvili spread in October 2014. Gumashvili used to live in village Duisi, Pankisi Gorge. 

Earlier, 3 weeks before the above mentioned, 18 year old Beso Kushtanashvili died during hostilities in Syria. He was a resident of village Omalo, Pankisi Gorge. 

36-year-old Kist field commander, Ruslan Machalikashvili died during hostilities in city Aleppo. He was from village Duisi, Pankisi Gorge. 

In October 2013, 24-year-old Khalid Atchishvili died in Syria. In recent years, Khalid Atchashvili went from Pankisi Gorge to Austria seeking for shelter and got the citizenship. 

A fighter from Pankisi, 26-year-old Hamzat Atchishvili (Aka Abu Abdullah) was severely injured during clashes in Syria and died as soon as he was transferred to a hospital. 

Another fighter from Pankisi, Abdul-Malik Mutoshvili died during the attack against the Government forces in Syria.

A son of Chechen field commander Ruslan Gelaev, 23-year-old Rustam Gelaev died in Syria. He is the only among other deceased fighters from Pankisi, whose body was transferred to Georgia. 

According to the existing information, up to 50 young men from Pankisi fight in Syria on the side of Islamic State. Two leaders of ISIS Tarkhan Batirasvhili and Murad Margoshvili are from Pankisi Gorge. 

Few days ago, ISIS announced about founding a province, Caucasus Villayet in North Caucasus.
