Electoral Districts Are Closed In Kakheti

13.12.2007
Some electoral districts are closed In Kvareli district. The Voters cannot check themselves on electoral lists.

Nani Kevkhishvili, member of the electoral commission in the village of Akhalsopeli, states that she visited electoral district in the morning but it was closed. The reason was pollution in the area where electoral district is located.

Akhalsopeli electoral district is still closed. Kvareli District Electoral Commission makes no comment on this regard.

According to local population the electoral district was closed under the instruction of the representative of Kakheti Regional Administration and Kvalreli Municipal Governor because the polls conducted by the activists of United National Movement showed that Akhalsopeli population did not support presidential candidate Mikheil Saakashvili.

Human Rights Centre considers the fact as a rough violation of electoral legislation and calls upon the Central Election Commission to react on that issue immediately.
