Coalition “For Our Rights” Protests Arrest of Arnold Benidze, Labor Party Member

July 28, 2008

The coalition of NGOs “For Our Rights” considers that the authoritarian regime of Georgian government has started carrying out retribution against various opposition parties.

The representatives of the NGO “For Our Rights” told news agency Medianews today that Arnold Benidze, the member of the Labor party was arrested on July 25th  because there is authoritarian regime in Georgia. The coalition “For Our Rights” calls the government for stopping it “dirty campaign” against oppositional parties which aims at intimidating and blackmailing members of the oppositional parties.

The coalition considers that the government tries to discriminate against the Georgian Labor Party as it seeks to neutralize Shalva Natelashvili, the leader of the party – such a variety of methods. If the government does not stop, the NGO “For Our Rights” is planning to start mass demonstration and protest rallies.
