January 22, 2009

Giorgi Mosiashvili, member of Telavi Organization of the Republic Party, accuses Telavi Municipality government for unreasonable expenditure of budget sums.

Giorgi Mosiashvili reported to the Human Rights Center that employees of Telavi municipality board skated in Shuamta Forest. The transportation, food and entertainment expenses were covered from local budget.

According to our information, employees of the municipality board spent 5 000 GEL on their entertainment. Whilst many socially excluded families of Telavi district have been requesting their single term social aid from district administration office for several months now.

Zurab Butskhrikidze, Telavi District Governor, denies the allegation. He said that skating was held only for children and youngsters and not for local governmental officials. “I do not remember the exact amount of money that was spent on the event but I am sure it was less than 5 000 GEL,” stated the Telavi Distict Governor.
