Alliance for Georgia Reported About the Oppression of Its Supporters

Sopo Khorguani, member of the Alliance for Georgia, reported that lately supporters of the Alliance were oppressed in Samegrelo region. More precisely, the supporters were prevented from coming to Tbilisi to support the opposition.

“On April 22-23 in Khobi, tires of the cars were cut and sugar was put in petrol tanks. On April 23, our activists were threatened and physically assaulted in Khobi and Abasha. Threat calls were made from the following phone numbers: 891 63 35 38; 891 63 35 42; 895 23 66 97,” said Khorguani.

According to her, representatives of the Alliance for Georgia applied to the police and gave the phone numbers.

According to Sopo Khorguani, on April 23 a stranger called the activists of the Alliance for Georgia, Bichi Janjgava and Irakli Jojua, and asked them to come to the office. When they went out, the patrol police stopped and checked their intoxication. They were fined and their cars were seized. Janjgava and Jojua demanded to be tested on drug-addiction. They were told that they acted only according to the directions.  The patrol police took their cars to the penalty compound.

“On the same day, number plates of Koba Khupatsaria’s car, who was leaving for Tbilisi, were stolen in Zugdidi. The police arrested the drivers of mini-buses, Badri Jguburia and Imeda Gikoshvili today in Chkhorotsku and they were taken to Zugdidi. The intoxication was not confirmed with drug test, though they were fined. The patrol police took their cars to the penalty compound,” stated Khorguani.

Besides that, about 100 cars of the supporters of the Alliance for Georgia are coming to Tbilisi from Samegrelo region.

On the way they will be joined by the parades of cars from Imereti, Achara and Guria regions and cars will join them from Shida Kartli region in Gori. They will enter Tbilisi at about 6:00 pm.
