Two Activists of the Opposition Were Attacked on Rustaveli Avenue

Two activists of the opposition stated at the demonstration in front of the Parliament, that the strangers attacked and beat them near Rustaveli underground.

Irakli Kobakhidze and Zaza Elchibegov told to the intepressnews, that when they left the demonstration to find a shop and to buy a cigarette, 20-30 people beat them near Rustaveli underground.

According to the victims, uniformed human rights defenders were not among the attackers. They were citizens and they attacked them without making any conversations. According to their statements, they could not recognize the attackers, because they had never seen them on the demonstrations.

While commenting the incident Davit Gamkrelidze, leader of the Rights Party, stated that it was deplorable fact that the government used violence toward the demonstrators on the Day of Forgiveness. It is time for the government to prevent such facts,-mentioned Gamkrelidze.

The victims are still at the Parliament. They were given the medical aid by the demonstrators.
