Public Defender will Make a Report about the Law Offence for the Interior Minister

The Public Defender will make a report about a violation of the law by the Minister of the Interior.
Interpressnews was informed by the Public Defender’s Office that they will make a report about the administrative law offence by the Minister of the Interior Vano Merabishvili at 15:00 on May 6. The Public Defender demanded to make a report about the administrative law violation by the Minister of the Interior.

The Public Defender’s Office stated that on April 10, 2009 Public Defender Sozar Subari sent a written application to the Interior Minister Vano Merabishvili and asked him to provide him with all videos which were taken nearby the Parliament starting 12:00 of April 9, 2009.
The Minister of the Interior did not satisfy the Public Defender’s demand.  He did not even answer him and the article of the Georgian Administrative Law Offence Code was violated.

The Public Defender’s Office informed Merabishvili that while making the report it was compulsory for the Minister of the Interior to attend the Public Defender’s Office.

In case of non-attendance, the report of violation of the law will be made without him and the copy will be sent to him and the original will be sent to the Administrative Board of the Tbilisi Civil court for discussion. The Public Defender demanded again to be provided with all videos which were taken during the demonstrations nearby the Parliament starting April 9, 2009.

According to Article 173, Part 4 of the Administrative Code of Georgia, disobedience to the demand of the Public Defender is fined with 20-50 times the estimated minimum wage.
