Any of Ministers Might Be Punished for the Child of the Convicted for Girgvliani’s Murder

September 8, 2009

The child of the convicted for Sandro Girgvliani’s murder might became reason for the liability of one of the ministers.

Member of the parliamentary minority Dimitri Lortkipanidze said at the session today that he is happy with the birth of the baby; but he wonders how the prisoner had a little baby though they spent three years in prison.

“According to our legislation, prisoners cannot meet family members for a long time and an inmate of the penitentiary department cannot contact with the family,” said Lortkipanidze and added that there are tens thousands prisoners in Georgia who serve their term in accordance to the law.

“This fact is much more important and the minister might assume political responsibility for this shortcoming,” said Lortkipanidze. He said corresponding governmental official shall be punished if any of the prisoners had privileges over other prisoners.

Dimitri Lortkipanidze did not mention the concrete name of the minister but supposedly he meant Bacho Akhalaia, former head of the penitentiary department and current Defense Minister.
