Opposition Activists Filed a Notification in the Tbilisi City Hall regarding the planned Protest of September 28

Dachi Tsaguria, Jaba Jishkariani and Irakli Kordzaia, opposition activists, filed a notification in the Tbilisi City Hall that they are planning to hold a protest on Rustaveli Avenue on September 28.

The opposition activists held a press conference in front of the Tbilisi City Hall regarding the upcoming protest of September 28. Irakli Kordzaia said that they will protest the fact that Mikheil Saakashvili pardoned the people who were convicted for killing Sandro Girgvliani.

Irakli Kordzaia said that the protest was initiated by a group of and since the law on demonstrations has become strict, they were officially notifying the City Hall about their upcoming protest. They also demanded that the City Hall provided security for the people who will take part in the protest.

The opposition activists said that a street might be blocked during the protest if many people come.

Jaba Jishkariani said that they would lodge 3 statements on September 28. One statement would be sent to the Parliament of Georgia. They would demand the creation of an investigation commission in the Parliament which, according to their demand, should investigate the killings of Zurab Vazagashvili, Roin Shavadze, Sandro Girgvliani, Amiran Robakidze, Tsindeliani, Valeri Pkhakadze and other cases.

They plan   to send the second statement to the Chief Prosecutor’s Office. The authors will demand that the Office investigate the killings of the people to bementioned in the first statement.

The third statement will be sent to the President of Georgia. In the statement the authors will demand that the President ensures that the Parliament and the Chief Prosecutor’s Office investigate these cases.

The organizers assume that about 50,000 people will attend the protest on September 28 and therefore, that Rustaveli Avenue will be blocked.
