Transparency of Public Agencies Has Worsened

February 17, 2010

The quality of transparency at public institutions has worsened in Kakheti Region. Representatives of the Human Rights Centre announced about it.

According to the Kakheti office of the human rights organization, they sent 45 letters to request public information to municipality boards, regional administrations and governors’ administration in January of 2010.

“We requested copies of 2010 budget projects and their confirmed versions from public institutions. Also, we needed information about expenses of district administrations; whether public officials received bonuses, prizes in 2009. We received complete answer only on our petition to the Lagodekhi district municipality board. Although the terms envisaged by administrative code expired, Kakheti Region governor administration, Sagarejo District municipality board, Sighnaghi, Dedoplistskaro and Akhmeta district administrations did not provide us with information. We have received incomplete answers from other institutions”, stated the representatives of the Human Rights Centre.
