Transparency International – Georgia Reports Less Violations During Pre-Election Campaign

According to the report of the non-governmental organization Transparency International – Georgia, less violations are observed during current pre-election campaign than it was during the elections in 2008.
Transparency International – Georgia published second medieval report of the monitoring of the pre-election period.
Program Director of the TI – Georgia Nina Khatiskatsi said the report covers the period from March 15 to May 5 and it focuses on the four main forms of the misuse of administrative resource. More precisely – rigid oppression which is expressed by threatening people, usage of financial, human and material-technical resources.
Khatiskatsi mentioned several facts of all abovementioned violations. Though she added that fewer violations were observed during the current pre-election campaign than it was observed during snap presidential and parliamentary elections in 2008.
Nina Khatiskatsi said in some cases corresponding measures are taken to eradicate the violations. The society shall be informed about it in order to increase the trust of voters and prevent further violations. Though it does not happen in every case.
TI-Georgia continues monitoring of the pre-election campaign and will twice report about the results before the elections.
