American Embassy: “Violations Observed at Polling Stations in Kakheti Region”

June 2, 2010

US Embassy in Georgia agrees with the report of the OSCE Democrat Institutes and Human Rights Office Monitoring Mission regarding the municipal elections in Georgia. However, the Embassy states that violations were observed in several regions of Georgia; and particularly in Kakheti region.

“We look forward to continuing to work with the Georgian authorities, political parties and civil society to address these challenges and shortcomings. Additional improvements in both the administration of elections and the campaign climate will be essential to increase public confidence in democratic institutions and processes,” statement of the US Embassy.
