Kakheti News Center

The fiancé of the former head of the Kakheti region patrol police department Davit Tabutsadze - Natia Chkhartishvili was abducted from the Boryspil Airport in Ukraine. The information was reported by the Ukrainian newspaper “Ukrainskaya Pravda”. Natia Chkhartishvili is the daughter of the Georgian businessman Vano Chkhartishvili. According to the “Ukrainskaia Pravda” Natia Chkhartishvili was abducted by the Ukrainian security service (SBU) and the body guards of Tariel Vasadze.

According to the Ukrainian edition, Natia Chkhartishvili was abducted from the airport when she was leaving Kiev for Tbilisi together with her fiancé Davit Tabutsadze.

The Ukrainian edition reports that Natia Chkhartishvili was abducted according to the order of her father Vano Chkhartishvili. He is against the marriage.

In his interview with the Ukrainian media Tabutsadze said that they were going to Georgia to get married. The father of the fiancé decided to upset their marriage. The couple had a holiday in Odessa. However, when they learned that Vano Chkhartishvili was looking for them, they decided to go home. They arrived in Boryspil where Tabutsadze summoned his Ukrainian colleagues - militiamen to help them. However, the body-guards of businessman Tariel Vasadze and security service officers of the Ukraine did not allow the militiamen to assist Tabutsadze.

During negotiations, the couple managed to check in and take the bus to the plane. However, an officer of the Ukrainian security service approached Natia Chkhartishvili on the bus and requested her passport; he tore off one page from the passport. Later, the officers explained to Chkhartishvili politely that she would not be able to fly anywhere the passport; as a result the young girl was sent back to the airport. Tabutsadze was asked to leave the airport immediately.

According to David Tabutsadze, head of the Security Service of Ukraine Valerii Khoroshkovskyi called Interior Minister Anatolii Mohyliov to withdraw the police from the airport.

The Ambassador of Georgia to Ukraine Grigol Katamadze was prohibited to visit Natia Chkhartyshvili. The girl was brought into the house of Tariel Vasadze, and subsequently sent to London.

A spokesman for the SBU Maryna Ostapenko said Ukrainian Pravda that the Security Service has no relation to the incident in Boryspil.

In turn, the Ambassador of Georgia to Ukraine Grigol Katamadze said that David Tabutsadze made a statement "that his wife was apprehended at the airport”.

“He wrote an application to the prosecutor's office and the regional police ... We expect for the reaction of the competent authorities on the application of our citizen", - the Ambassador added.

We will kindly remind the readers that in 2008 the president of Georgian Mikheil Saakashvili declared Davit Tabutsadze to be the hero during his speech in the parliament of Georgia. “Several days ago, this person rescued 21-year-old girl who was going to kill herself in the Mtkvari River. He jumped into the water immediately and rescued the girl at the risk of his personal life,” said the president.
