54 More Unemployed People in Rustavi

September 9, 2010
The ministry of education stopped funding of two vocational collages in Rustavi from the new school-year. “Imedi” and “Rustavi Center of Vocational Education” request funds for further activities from the local authority now. The city council promises the Rustavi Center of Vocational Education to allocate funds but the “Imedi” is in hopeless situation and preparing for liquidation.

“The ministry unofficially told us they are not going to fund us in future. The liquidation has its procedures. We have 54 employees together with technical personnel. I think, the ministry should take care of those people. They should be employed in other institutions or should be compensated,” said the head of the “Imedi” collage Davit Jalaghania.

Last year, the collage had 350 graduates. “Imedi” has signed memorandum with the enterprise “Georgian Steel”. Most part of their students was sent by the enterprise to study in the collage.

The ministry of education does not comment on the liquidation of “Imedi” and about any assistance to its former employees.
