Kakha Mikaia, the member of the political council of Georgian Party openly argued with the journalist Jaba Khubua on live broadcasting of the radio Palitra. The journalist left yesterday’s program of Resume as a form of protest. Gia Gachechiladze states that he will cut his neck on live TV. Jaba Khubua calls the members of Ethics Charter of Journalists the police supervisors.
The reason of this whole turmoil was the scandalous article published on Monday in the newspaper Asaval-Dasavali which talks about the face-to-face meeting of Levan Gachehiladze and Mikheil Saakashvili and their deals on certain issues.
Scandalous Conviction
The author of the article published in Asaval-Dasavali Jaba Khubua assures that he has a paper where Levan Gachechiladze wrote down his requests to Mikheil Saakashvili at the meeting held after the 2008 Presidential elections, namely: “Assign me to a post of Premiere,” “I want five million,” “I need the constant capital of 10-12 million for creating Ilia Chavchavadze Bank.” Besides, according to Jaba Khubua Levan Gachechiladze asked Mikheil Saakashvili to assign Tina Khidasheli to a post of Chief Prosecutor on which Saakashvili responded that Khidasheli is Giga Bokeria in a dress and vainly they think that she is an angel…
As Asaval-Dasavali indicates Saakasshvili transferred two million to Gachechiladze and refused to transfer the rest. Khubua states that the motive of Gachechiladze’s continuous fight was that the President “dumped” him.
According to the newspaper, the matter of deal was peaceful conduct of Saakashvili’s inauguration. On that day, the opposition supporters held a protest rally of thousands of people in the hippodrome. The participants did not proceed to the Parliament. Thus, Saakashvilis inauguration ended without excesses.
“Beware Man!”
The member of the political council of Georgian Party Kakha Mikaia convicted Jaba Khubua in fulfilling the political order of government and asked him to name the amount of money that he received for this article.
Jaba Khubua categorically rejected the conviction and gave a promise that he will soon publish the written document where Levan Gachehiladze wrote down his requests. “You can conduct the expert examination on this document,” – he added.
Khubua added that he is a journalist and would have written an article regardless what side the kompromat was provided by. According to him, he would do the same if the Georgian Party provided the kompromats.
Mikaia emphatically noted that only Georgian Party represents the alternative force for government and that is why the aggressive attacks have been implemented against them. Georgian Party is attacked by everyone, including Jaba Khubua who has been bribed by the government,” – he stated and repeated several times: “Beware Man!”
As Khubua stated on Mikaia’s convictions he can “publicly swear” that is not the governmental agent in case Levan Gachechiladze does the same.
Eventually the life broadcasting of the program Resume ended with Jaba Khubua leaving the studio and then Kakha Mikaia following. However, the verbal assaults continued in the hall of Palitra Media.
“I am ready to cut my neck on live TV”
Gia Gachehiladze, the so-called “stranger” makes the scandalous statement.
If the fact of taking 20 million by his brother is confirmed, Gia Gachechiladze is ready “to cut his neck on live TV,” – he stated on Maestro live.
According to him, after publishing and examining the document by the expert, if it is really confirmed that his brother took 20 million that means that “he never really lived.”
“I will cut my neck on live. This means that I never really lived,” – stated Giga Gachechiladze and wanted to know what Jaba Khubua will do if it is confirmed that the published document is false. Gachechiladze states that in this case Jaba Khubua must “wrap the newspaper and eat it up.”
Generally, Giga Gachechiladze excludes the fact of meeting of his brother and the President and states that he knows everything about his brother. The opposition and government equally want to discredit Levan Gachechiladze, according to him.
According to Gia Gachechiladze’s evaluation, people in the opposition see competitors in one another. Gachechiladze did not wish to talk about such examples. “I do not want to bring split where the split has been there a long time,” – he stated.
In the program Arguments of TV Company Maestro Jaba Khubua and Gia Gachechiladze expressed their positions separately. The debates were not conducted by the request of Jaba Khubua who stated that he wanted to debate only with Levan Gachechiladze. Gia Gachechiladze was asking to enter the live broadcasting when Khubua was talking about the secret meeting of Levan Gachechiladze and Mikheil Saakashvili.
The guards and the employees of the TV company explained Gia Gachechiladze that there was no preliminary agreement with Jaba Khubua and he was going to talk only with Tea Sichinava.
After the first block of the program, in order to avoid escalation, the employees of the TV Company took Jaba Khubua through the spare exit and Gia Gachechiladze joined the live broadcasting afterwards.
“I do not understand those people…”
Jaba Khubua assures that he never violated journalistic ethics and is not interested in the opinions of creators of Journalistic Charter. As he stated on Maestro, any journalist would have published the material that he had received.
As for the Journalistic Charter, in front of which Georgian Party is going to raise the issue of Jaba Khubua, he is not interested in their opinions and position.
“I do not understand those people who worked on this Charter and are the members of Ethics Council – who determined that they are the police masters of Georgian journalistic morals; or who gave them right to conduct expert examination on my or your material,” – stated Khubua and noted that he is not a signatory to the Charter because of these reasons.
Besides, the journalist of Asaval-Dasavali stated that he feels the same kind of danger from the government and Georgian Party and does not exclude provocation against him. According to him, on Maestro live, he numerous times heard threats from Kakha Mikaia that “something might happen to him” and “government will be guilty of this.” According to Khubua, when the individual makes such statement and imposes preliminary responsibility on the government, it creates certain doubts.
Thus, if really certain provocation is implemented against Jaba Khubua, the journalist preliminarily blames Mikheil Saakashvili, Vano Merabishvli and Kakha Mikaia. He thinks that both sides might be interested in the provocation. The government’s interest is that it is not beneficial for them to disclose the scheme that occurred in the newspaper Asaval-Dasavali by Jaba Khubua. One more argument presented by him is the position of the so-called national TV companies. “No national channel uttered a word on the occurred,” – added Jaba Khubua.
