Baghabsh Declared Non-Use of Force Like Saakashvili

December 15, 2010

The Sokhumi regime requests the UN to involve them in the agreement on non-use of force with Tbilisi.

According to Abkhazian Media, the leader of the Sokhumi regime Baghapsh stated in his letter to the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon

Baghapsh states that he does not believe the oral statement of the President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili on non-use of force.
“I call upon the UN to promote non-use of force between the parties, to reinforce commitment to decline aggression between both sides, to form a new system ensuring security, which will aim to a long-term and stable neighborhood between Abkhazia and Georgia”, Sergei Baghapsh stated in his letter.

In the same letter, Baghapsh blames Georgia in breaching the signed peace-agreement under UN supervision and in continuation of aggressive policy towards Abkhazia. In addition, the leader of the Sokhumi regime promises “not to use force and will use only their right on self-defense.”

The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili made a statement at the European Parliament on November 23. He called upon Russia to start negotiation and added that Georgia will only use its right on self-defense and will never try to restore Georgia’s territorial integrity by force.
