Azerbaijan Government Started Repressions against Human Rights Defenders

Tbilisi Human Rights House is concerned with the repressions of human rights defenders by Azerbaijan authority and shutdown of Azerbaijani Human Rights House.

Human Rights House Azerbaijan has been closed by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Justice on March 10th 2011. NDI is also closed. 5 youth activists have been detained for the recent days in Azerbaijan. The information on the corresponding finds source from Tbilisi Human Rights Foundation.

The escalation of repression by the authorities against the civil society in Azerbaijan for the last weeks is an answer to the announced pro-democracy demonstrations in Azerbaijan in March 2011.


Tbilisi Human Rights House Network shares the concern of international network of human rights houses and calls upon the civil society to jointly protest against these acts violating the freedom of expression, the right to association, peaceful assembly and to be a human rights defender.
