MIA Officially Confirms the Incident Occurred in Knolev

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Georgia officially confirmed the incident that happened in the village Knolev of Kareli region.

As the Press Service of MIA stated to interpressnews, they confirm the information that one of their employees who was working at the surrounding checkpoint of the conflict zone, accidentally fired from his gun. According to MIA, this individual is detained and is charged with the article 116 of the Criminal Code which envisages manslaughter without due caution and circumspection and envisages 15 years imprisonment sentence.

Interpressnews disseminated information on the shooting in the village Knolev during which 25-year old Nino Koberidze died on July 11th. The Governor of the village Knolev Gia Gelashvili stated back then that the shootings were coming from the village Znauri. According to the Governor, the shootings continued for several minutes in the village.

MIA reacted upon the information disseminated on July 11th on the same day. The Press Service of MIA stated to interpressnews that no shootings took place in the direction of the village Knolev.
