Victimized Inhabitants Request To Punish Kervalishvili and Rcheulishvili

February 8, 2012

“We demand to punish Kervalishvili and Rcheulishvili,” “Let them return our money,” the protest assembly with these slogans was held near the parliament on February 7. The protesters purchased spaces in the residential buildings, which were being constructed by the Center Point in 2004, 2005 and 2006; the Company did not finish the construction of those buildings.

Protesters say 6 200 people were damaged by the building company “Center Point”. The Company “Dexus”, which assumed the responsibilities of the Center Point, has not kept its promise yet and has several requirements to the victimized people; more precisely, they have to sign a new contract according to which inhabitants will have to pay VAT that is 18% of the flat price and 100 USD more per sq. meter of space. Otherwise, the old contracts will be annulled and their spaces will be sold to other people.

“In 2006-2007, I transferred money to the Center Point. I wanted to purchase a flat in Khosharauli Street # 29 whose construction was due to end in 2009. The construction has not finished yet. In 2010 I appealed to the court and requested to cease my contract and return my money back. I won the trial, but the execution of the court decision was postponed for one year. Nevertheless, the court verdict has not been executed yet. Nobody has built a flat for me and nobody has recovered the money to me,” said Valeri Zardiashvili.

The protesters request judgment of Rusudan Kervalishvili, vice-speaker of the Parliament. Before going into politics, Kervalishvili was director of the Center-Point. The protesters prepared a petition to the chairman of the parliament Davit Bakradze where they request to suspend vice-speaker’s status for Rusudan Kervalishvili. They collected signatures, attached to the petition and sent it to the parliament.

Tina Khidasheli from the Republic Party also joined the assembly,

“The victims of the Center Point have been protesting and urging for justice for a long time already. Their requests are completely fair and legitimate. They request the money back which they had paid for the flats. Those people ask respond from Rusudan Kervalishvili, who has signed contracts with them. I express solidarity with those people and have been protecting their interests since the first days. I am sure, they will achieve their goal by all means and their problems will be resolved,” said Tina Khidasheli.

Representatives of the Company “Dexus” state they have already covered all bank loans of the Center Point Group by now. They said the Company has already spent 23 million GEL on the construction activities and project rehabilitation and all suspended projects will be renewed and finished in 2012-2013.
