Georgian Dream without Office in Dedoplistskaro

February 16, 2012

Nino Korashvili, Kakheti Information Center

Bidzina Ivanishvili’s public movement Georgian Dream no longer has an office in Dedoplistskaro region. The owner of the office cancelled the agreement with Georgian Dream in a day after the signing.

“In the building near the local government which belongs to Soso Uzunashvili Republican Party has rented two rooms. Other rooms are also available there. When Georgian Dream decided to rent an office building, representatives from Tbilisi arrived and talked to the owner of the building and rented three rooms. They signed the contract as well. On the second day, the owner of the building came. He was very concerned. He was crying. He said that he had to cancel the agreement on these three rooms,” – the head of Dedoplistskaro regional organization of Republican Party Nodar Toklikishvili stated to Kakheti Information Center.

- Did you ask him what the reason for cancellation of agreement was?

- He said that he had no other way. Everything was clear for me.

- If he cancelled agreement with Georgian Dream, does he not have a problem with the office of Republican Party?

- We had a separate agreement. We had rented these rooms in 2010. Then we ceased the agreement. In December of 2011 we renewed the agreement. Republican Party has six-month agreement. The term of the agreement will expire at the end of May. We have paid in advance including for month of February. According to the terms of agreement, if it is cancelled unilaterally, the owner will have to pay the compensation. When the term expires, they might not sign the agreement with us either or they might cease it earlier.”

Kakheti Information Center contacted Soso Uzunashvili as well. He is a head of the territorial body of the city Dedoplistskaro of Dedoplistskaro municipality local government.

- Mr. Soso why did you cancel the agreement made with Georgian Dream?

- A better option came up.

- Did someone offer you bigger amount?

- Yes.

- Who?

- It is a private organization.

- Can you tell us who they are?

- No, I can’t.

- You already rented out your office?

- Not yet.

- Did you cancel the agreement due to outside pressure?

- No, no pressure.

- How long have you been working on the post of head of Dedoplistskaro territorial body?

- 2 years.
