July 6, 2012

News agency INFO 9 spread video-materials which demonstrate intimidation of their Zestaponi correspondent and interference in her professional activities.

According to the news agency, a group of people, alleging they are Media Group, is chasing journalist Ekaterine Dugladze for a week already. “Seven men with five video-cameras permanently follow her and ask incorrect provocative questions. Ekaterine Dugladze is working under serious psychological oppression,” the statement of the INFO 9 reads.

Regional information centers appeal to Chief Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia to immediately investigate the fact. We call upon the Public Defender of Georgia, human rights nongovernmental organizations to respond to similar facts. We call upon the Imereti regional administration and Zestaponi district administration to allow the journalist to enter local self-governmental office, to travel and to work in the district without obstacles.
