Court Imposed Payment of 7 000 lari on the Owner of a Cow Killed by Patrol Police Car

August 21, 2012

A patrol police car crashed a cow of Tristan Lomashvili, resident of Zemo Aranisi village in Dusheti district, and killed it. However, the police fined its owner with 100 lari and demanded him to purchase a new car for the patrol police.

After Lomashvili declared that he could not purchase the car, police officers sued him at the court. Based on the party agreements at the court, Tristan Lomashvili will pay 7 000 lari to the patrol police officers.

“My husband was leading the cow into the house when a patrol police car crashed it. It was not our fault at all; their car was driving on the other side of the road and when they reached the cow, they drove on our side. The cow died on the place but police fined us alleging we should not have had a cow outside. We paid 100 lari fine but now they demand to purchase a car for 16 000 lari. We cannot afford it. When we refused, they sued us at the court. We finished the trial with agreement and we paid 7 000 lari. But I do not think it is agreement, they have almost robbed us. So, our cow was drunk and patrol police officers were sober,” Mariam Akhalashvili, wife of Tristan Lomashvili told ICMM.

A month ago, resident of Misaktsieli village in Mtskheta district Davit Kaishauri was fined with 9 900 lari because MIA office car crashed his cow.
