Irma Inashvili from the Media Union Obiektivi stated that she personally obtained the video footage of torturing prisoners in Gldani prison. She said in her interview from Brussels that she and her friends gave video footage to TV9.

“I want to release additional information about those processes that are going in Georgia, in particular about video materials. Today I can claim that I personally got hold of these video materials. I will tell how everything started in May. People contacted me in the name of Vano Merabishvili and they gave me this horrible video footage. Afterwards I was informed that the author of this video had left Georgia. It is quite interesting how person who took this video was able to cross Georgian border and I thought it wasn’t accidental at all. Some law enforcement structures supported us. Society has seen only fragments from this video and not the whole material, I can show mass storage device with the video-footage of one hour and half showing what was going in prison. We have sent these materials to the leaders of all European institutions and they have those videos on their tables. So, it is useless for the government to threaten us,” Irma Inashvili said.

She added that after receiving the video footage she contacted her friends and started distribution of the video.

“After I received the video footage I contacted my friends, and my colleagues Giorgi Popkhadze and Merab Lagadze, representatives of the Obiektivi studio in Brussels. They are with me right now. With their help video was sent to senior officials of the European structures,” Inashvili stressed.

“I would like to address to the government that Maestro and TV9 has nothing to do with it. Video was obtained by me – journalist Irma Inashvili. For this purpose, we applied to some strategy and tactics. When Giorgi Popkhadze was live-interviewed by TV-9 the video-materials were being sent to TV9. They had no idea what Giorgi Popkhadze was giving to them. Another person gave materials to Shalva Ramishvili who had received them from us as well. It is good that Shalva Ramishvili showed high professionalism and showed these materials to society. I want to underscore that no political subject, neither Georgian Dream nor Tamaz Tamazashvili are involved in it,” Inahsvili underlined.
