Privatization of Sold Building of Parliament of Georgia Stopped

October 18, 2012
Privatization of the Tbilisi based building of the parliament of Georgia was stopped. Candidate for the position of minister of economy Giorgi Kvirikashvili told journalists in Maestro TV’s press-club.

He did not speak about details but said the building was already sold.

“Unfortunately, the building was already sold though its privatization process was stopped. I cannot speak about other details. It is very pity that the building of the parliament, where our country passed the Act of Independence, was sold out in a hurry. It was a mistake,” Kvirikashvili said.

As for the Kutaisi based new building of the parliament, the minister-to-be said, he adores Kutaisi city but thinks moving the parliament to Kutaisi is “artificial” development of the city.

In addition to that, Kvirikashvili said they should review the list of strategic entities, because there are some entities which cannot be sold by the state due their state security purposes.
