There Is No Official Data about Property Withdrawn from Parliament Building

October 19, 2012

Immovable property of the parliament of Georgia was of quite solid value; it was distributed in local self-governmental bodies. However, relevant documents on the property are being prepared now but they will be old-dated. Informed source reported to the Interpresnews about it.

“They are preparing documents with old dates as if district administrations had requested the parliament to give furniture and other office equipment. The properties taken out of the parliament building are being calculated now and relevant documents are being created though they will be dated by old dates,” Interpresnews was anonymously informed about it from the parliament’s administration.

They started to empty the parliament building in July and in August everything was taken out – technical means, furniture, office equipment.

Reportedly, the Ilia Chavchavadze Hall and halls for plenary sessions were also demolished. They even removed doors between outbuildings and foyer.

In addition, there is no official data about the property withdrawn from the parliament building.

Interpresnews tried to get in touch with the former head of the parliament administration Davit Janiashvili with regard to this issue but he did not answer phone calls. Service Agency of the Ministry of Finances is informed about distribution of parliament’s property in district administrations. However, they could not clarify how the process conformed to the procedures estimated by the law.

“According to our information, the parliament divided part of its property among self-government bodies beyond our involvement; however, another part of property will be assigned to us. Yet, we have not received anything; so when we receive property, we will start its registration,” representative of the service agency at the Ministry of Finances Ketevan Kiknadze told IPN. She does not know what kind of property remained in the parliament which will be assigned to their agency.
