Paata Zakareishvili Sues National Movement’s Coordinator at the Court

October 23, 2012

On October 18, Kutaisi City Court held trial on the suit of Paata Zakareishvili, candidate for the position of the state minister for reintegration issues, vs Tengiz Gogelia, coordinator of the National Movement in Tskaltubo.

Paata Zakareishvili was majoritarian candidate of the Georgian Dream in Tskaltubo. During the pre-election campaign, on August 25, Tengiz Gogelia blamed him in accepting bribes during the Abkhazian war [of 1990s].

“During Abkhazian war I was serving Georgia honorably and respectfully. This slander is completely unacceptable for me – he alleges I was taking 100 USD for the delivery of one body of a dead Georgian soldier from Abkhazia to Georgia. This is immoral accusation,” said Zakareishvili.

The trial will be renewed and the court will pass final verdict on October 30. However, representative of the Georgian Dream Nato Katamadze said court should not have taken one week time to pass decision on this issue.
