Office Vehicle Still Serves Lanchkhuti District Former Governor

January 10, 2013

Nino Mshvidobadze, Guria

Lanchkhuti district residents claim the former governor Giorgi Goguadze and his family still drives BMW that belongs to the district administration. Goguadze was National Movement’s majoritarian candidate for the parliamentary elections and still chairs local office of the UNM.

Local residents said Goguadze and his wife Marina Mshvidobadze, supervisor of John the Baptist Seminary, still use the car.

Why do the former district governor and his wife still use the service car? We asked this question to the chairman of the municipal board Revaz Chitidze who said he did not have information about it and forwarded us to his deputy Zviad Apkhazava. The latter categorically denied the spread information.

“Former governor does not use this car. We all live in Lanchkhuti and maybe our driver met him somewhere in the street and gave a lift; it is no problem since they have worked together during many years,” said Apkhazava.

We asked Irakli Papava, representative of the Georgian Democratic Development Union, how legal it is when former governor uses the service car.

“The office car of the district administration shall serve acting public official. If any former official still uses this car, she/he breaches the law,” said Papava.

We requested public information from the district administration which states that 11 cars are registered on their balance; last year 76 490 lari was allocated for the fuel of office cars
