Lasha Narchemashvili to Chair Georgian Dream’s Office in Tskaltubo

January 29, 2013

After several-day controversy, on January 28, at the foundation conference of the political coalition Georgian Dream- Democratic Georgia, Lasha Narchemashvili, brother of the former minister of interior Koba Narchemashvili, was elected to chair the local office.

150 delegates attended the meeting and it was conducted in parallel to protest demonstration. Protesters claimed the conference was illegal because part of Georgian Dream’s members had not received mandates.

There were three candidates for the position of the chairman of the Coalition’s district organization. Two of them Jeiran Lipartelyani and Romeo Nizharadze canceled their candidatures at the conference. Finally, delegates elected Narchemashvili.

Lasha Narchemashvili said the conference was conducted legally and added that ongoing protest demonstration was result of poor party discipline. He said he intends to meet protesters and cooperation with them in future.
