Journalist Sues Chairman of the Adjara Supreme Council At the Court

March 6, 2013

Yesterday, Adjara office correspondent of the news agency Interpresnews Nino Khozrevanidze lodged a suit to the court. The journalist appealed to the Batumi City Court to protect her personal dignity, honor and professional reputation.

“During the February 11 traditional briefing of the Supreme Council, the council chairman Avtandil Beridze blamed me in the dissemination of false information. I have not spread false information, so I appealed to the court and request to restitute my dignity, honor and professional reputation,” said Nino Khozrevanidze, journalist of the Interpresnews.

Lawyer of the Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association’s Batumi office Maya Katamadze protects journalist’s interests at the court. “We believe Avtandil Beridze disrespected Khozrevanidze’s right to personal dignity, honor and professional reputation. We request him to deny his statement on briefing of Supreme Court about Journalist Khozrevanidze as it is stipulated under Article 18 of the Civil Code of Georgia and Article 17 and 24 of the Constitution of Georgia.”

I remind you that the journalist had prepared an article about the discontent of the part of Georgian Dream’s members. Namely she wrote that one part of the Georgian Dream’s members protested election of Lasha Sirabadze to the position of the Batumi Office of the Georgian Dream.
