June 5 is International Environment Day and some events are planned with regard to this date at Tbilisi State University.
Student conference will be held at the TSU. Students winning the competition of the essays on climate change will be awarded today. USAID Mission Director in Georgia Stephen M. Haykin will personally award the winners. Besides that, Eco-Debate-Club of the TSU’s Children’s University will hold summarizing event of the school year. EDC pupils and TSU students will hold joint action and clean the vicinities and the square of the TSU First Building.
UN General Assembly established June 5 to be the International Environment Day on December 15, 1972. The topic of the World Environment Day in 2013 is “Think, Eat, Save.” The information campaign aims to combat unreasonable waste of food.
Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Georgia released information that celebration of the World Environment Day aims to raise public awareness about their responsibility before the nature, to promote sustainable development of the environment, its maintenance and active engagement of the society into the struggle for better environment.
